As of March 2010, over 85,000 people populate UK prisons. With a re-offending rate approaching 70% there is a huge need to help motivate and equip inmates to break the cycle of crime.
Our mainly volunteer-staffed teams hold regular motivational meetings at prisons and young offender institutes. These meetings feature music, drama and anecdotes combined with a lot of group and one-on-one interaction. The informal and very positive delivery of these programmes makes it easy for inmates to take on board the ideas and messages being conveyed.
Besides the initial motivational visit we are also in the process of:
Establishing a network of trained life coaches to assist with the longer term matters of emotional and social rehabilitation, career building and other important areas in the
rebuilding of offenders’ lives.
Offering free music lessons to interested inmates to give them added skills and enhance their ability to interact in a creative way with the world around them.
